Hi,

My Dad has a Sandisk Compact Flash card for his Nikon D70.

He has just been to Malta and arrived home to find that all the 400+ pictures he had taken are not showing up on the Card.

When inserting the card into the card reader or camera it's saying there is no files. The card is showing the DCIM folder but when he goes into the folder there is nothing there.

But, if I right click on the Drive icon in windows and display the properties of the card it is displaying that there is 1.45gb Used space and 474mb free space.

Can anyone suggest the best way to recover the files from the card ?

I have tried the Sandisk REcover program that came with the card but thats not working.

Thanks

Kevin

Sorry to hear that. As it happens, my dad has the same problem with his SD card, his was some cheapo unbranded one though.

I think it's best if you found some professional photo store to see what they can do. I'm geussing the pictures are reasonably important to him so it would be worth paying for. With my dad, they couldn't recover anything so he didn't pay them anything.

However, perhaps there is some other clever software you can try first

He's very happy :):)

I searched the web for a program to fix it and came across a program called Photorec from here http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

It has managed to recover all the photo's :D

I've been trying a few other programs to recover them but none worked. This one worked first time so my Dad is now very pleased.
