I have a recovery partition on my Gateway laptop which is used to make recovery CD's. The CD's have become scratched and I cant create any new ones as I have formatted the laptop. Is there anyway of creating the CD's now, or installing straight from the partition?

Did you delete the recovery partition or just lose access to it? Check in computer management (right click My Computer > Manage > Disk Management) to see if the recovery partition still exists.

The recovery partition is there, but I'm pretty sure it's not a bootable partition, just used for making the disks. I can see all the files in it.

Yeh, but the original install will most likely have had a custom boot script that allowed you to access it via an F button on system startup, if you can find a way to restore that option you should be able to recover the machine direct from the partition.

Take a look on the Gateway website or hit google.

Thanks for that, I have installed the recovery centre though to try and make the disks but it is saying it cant find the partition, so that must be why F11 doesn't work aswell.
