Recovery Partitions

I need to free up space by releasing the data used by the OEM recovery partitions which are now pointless as they are Windows 8.1.

Anyone know if any harm will come if I just delete the partitions? Note that the disk management utility doesn't let me do this and so I will have to use a a boot utility.

I dont think so, but I almost always delete them as I first reinstall windows when I get a new laptop (not a fan of all the bloatware that comes prepackaged with them), but if you're not sure, and you have a spare HDD + caddy, you could always clone the entire drive first to ensure you have a backup in case anything does go wrong
