For CD's I have allways used Bad Copy , it has recovered many things from disks , Never tried DVD's though. For media disks [camera cards] I use recovermyfiles3.2
Getdataback if a quick erase does what a file deletion does on a hard disk (i.e. mark the area as free space in the MFT but leave the binary data intact).
