I PM'd one of the mods but haven't had a reply... essentially - are these allowed?

We have a generous RAF scheme running at work, wondering if I can earn my slice by recruiting some people from the forum.

There is another topic on here somewhere called 'there be jobs here' or something, people have been advertising jobs in there for ages so I think it is acceptable. Finding people jobs who need jobs is good for the community imo

I'm not sure if doing so for personal gain is allowed though. I believe you may find something to that effect in the FAQ. I don't see why you couldn't link them to a recruitment page though. Whereabouts are you recruiting? Perhaps we should talk!

From the FAQ:

No promotion of business interests
You may not promote any website or business you have a financial or other interest in, or use the popularity of this community to help build one of your own. The forums are here to allow people to freely share knowledge, not provide them with personal financial gain, or free advertising.

So yes pointing people in the direction of jobs - fine, but purposely for your gain - no thanks.

Well no telling how many other people are profiting but simply don't mention it..

Quite, lots of companies offer incentives for referring candidates. If the role is advertised and a candidate isn't referred by an employee then their CV might not be seen or might end up just getting skimmed by HR, being referred by an employee tends to mean the relevant hiring manager gets to see your CV. Also some roles aren't advertised, so you'd have to go via an employee if not already on the radar of whichever recruiter is handling it.

Essentially anyone posting on here about a job, asking people to contact them and not providing a link to an advert where a poster can apply themselves is potentially profiting. So long as they're not actual recruiters then I don't see why it is a big deal as employee referrals would clearly benefit any OCUK forum job hunters.

OP is probably best not to have mentioned the referral incentive. If mods want to clamp down on this then they really need to make a rule that any job posting contains a link to a website where forum members can apply.
