I’ve been thinking about getting a recumbent cycle and was wondering if anyone here rides a ‘bent?
I’m a regular cyclist and ride a Brompton for commuting and a vintage Vindec Speedwing 25 for more serious rides.
Without going into too much detail but recently I’ve had 2 incidents; one involving snapped derailleur hanger and the other a snapped chain. At the time of both, I was applying a lot of force on the pedals and ended up bashing my private on the crossbar on both occasions resulting in some unpleasant bruising.
It’s kind of put me off cycling a bit but a recumbent configuration certainly looks appealing. Particularly something with a fairing or nose cone like the one in this pic.
Pretty cool, huh? Certainly a head turner.
Just not sure of some of the logistics- like taking one on the train, for instance. Can anyone here give me the lowdown on the pitfalls of owning one of these cycles?
