Right click on recycle bin and choose properties.

Make sure "Don't move files to the Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted." is NOT selected.

Whats the operating system?

I had this problem when I worked on a helpdesk a few years ago, but I have been up all night and cant remember what it is that fixes it.

All I remember is that its something really simple to fix.

Its something to do with the folder called:

C:\recycler

Try going START - RUN - C:\recycler - right click - check your security preferences and make sure you have modify/full access to the folder

I am sure this will prompt someones memory into helping you. I am just half a sleep at the moment.

Thanks for your help but that didn't work, i'm using vista 32 bit home premium.

What's the location of your bin? Size? Space available on drive? Etc? Can you get screen caps of all the bin properties (on all of your drives) if possible?

How many hard drives are you using?

If for example you have c:\ and a d:\ drive, unless you have actually set up a recycle bin on the d:\ drive any files you delete will just vanish, if you drop and drag them from that drive though they will appear in the recycler.

My bin's is on my desktop, C drice is 223GB free of 456GB & F drive is 39.7GB free of 139gb.

That is complete oddness. The last thing I can think of is that you're selecting multiple files by holding SHIFT, then forgetting to release SHIFT prior to deleting. I also hear that deleting files from a compressed folder might cause this problem.

edit: the Explorer view for your Recycle Bin is configured for Music. Click Organize | Folder and Search Options, then click the View tab, and select Restore Defaults.
