Recycled build - gone horrible wrong

I've just put together a build from old parts all was running smooth in till it decided it didn't want to out put a picture to the monitor anymore.

Now I swear I've had this problem before and a good old hard rest set it right again. Now anything i do won't fix it. New graphics card. Ram sticks. Resets all the time and nothing .

Any ideas of what I can try.

8120 cpu. 970 gtx. 8gb ram. Sabertooth mobo. 850 power supply.

It worked completely fine then just kaput. No output from either card of different monitors.

Yeah both worked previously. Drivers were up-to-date.

Does the computer output a display signal during bootup before loading windows?

It shows nothing when it fails. But it did just load up again. And again has failed. I wonder if the cpu got damaged in the transfer. Maybe gets to hot. Because it has just booted up but froze as I left the room so no way to check temps.

You didn't run it without a cpu cooler, right?

That'd cook it in no time.

What thermal paste did you use, and were you not able to see temp in bios?

take battt out and clear cmos and start a fresh - you mean it fails to even get into windows ?

got a spare stick of ram or spare psu you could try? as above check the paste incase its dried up.

make sure the cpu cooler is applying even pressure & its fan is connected to the cpu fan header
also double check all the power cables for the mobo are firmly in!
