What it really needs is VR Gloves. So then you can actually lean forward pick an unit up then place it somewhere also or point at a unit and then point at a location on a map.
eg have a static build queue on side of screen or on a VR tablet then once its built actually pick it up and plonk it on the game map.
You can kind of do that with the Vive controllers already. There is a couple of RTS games out already, most famous being Out of Ammo. In that you can move characters around and place them, even click them and zoom down and be them.
Gloves are already in development too, called Manus or something similar.
It isn't, but unless you've tried VR then it's hard to imagine how cool it is actually looking down on your environment. Watching this on a screen does it no justice.
I'm just preying for the Homeworld series to get a VR upgrade.
I think it looks awesome and kudos to whoever made it. I do agree the mouse and keyboard would probably still be better but considering this was done by a fan it's great.
