Red Alert 2 VR (fan proof of concept)

I am very sceptical of VR.

How does this make the original UI better compared to using a mouse?

By the look of it (as a VR user) it makes it harder to play but you can play it using VR. Thats about it.

I play games so I don't have to spend time on my phone, so this is a nope from me, however nice concept.

Stuff like this is good for VR in general because its pushing the envelope a bit, VR needs more innovation.

What it really needs is VR Gloves. So then you can actually lean forward pick an unit up then place it somewhere also or point at a unit and then point at a location on a map.

eg have a static build queue on side of screen or on a VR tablet then once its built actually pick it up and plonk it on the game map.

You can kind of do that with the Vive controllers already. There is a couple of RTS games out already, most famous being Out of Ammo. In that you can move characters around and place them, even click them and zoom down and be them.

Gloves are already in development too, called Manus or something similar.

It isn't, but unless you've tried VR then it's hard to imagine how cool it is actually looking down on your environment. Watching this on a screen does it no justice.

I'm just preying for the Homeworld series to get a VR upgrade.
