Red Alert 3 Beta

Japs are just pure mobility - The base building is just insane, they don't actually have an airfield due to almost every unit having Ground/Air capabilities.

Allies are a bit weak overall, they kind of rely on the super weapons (timebomb is wicked). In RA2 we had the Chronotroops in which you could make buildings dissapear etc, they aren't in RA3 :(

Soviets are class, the super powers are very useful, especially Mass Production... Kirov's dominate and the apoc tanks but they are quite late in the game.

The best commando is blatantly the Japs one.
 
Quick question. I installed it with my beta key etc the other day. Then I had to wipe and reinstall windows. I cant find where I wrote down the beta key. Is there any way to dig it out of the red alert game files? Or would it be lost in the registry

Think they send it you in an email as well don't they? Check your spam boxes and stuff just incase.

I've had a few quick games so far and it does remind me a lot of ra2, never been very good at multiplayer rts games so getting my arse kicked a lot, but having fun while doing it :D. My only main gripe is its too zoomed in, but don't think there's a lot can be done about that so just have to get used to it. But will definitely be buying it on release.
 
Liking the game so far but really wish the engineers would take time to capture buildings.

As it is, I simply load engineers into troop transports, teleport them into an enemy base and bam have captured most of their buildings instantly.

I think engineers should have a counter for buildings like construction yards or war factories. Capturing them instantly is a little bit crap.

It's always been the same in RA. Kids just need to know how to counter it :)

Build walls around your MCV, get ready for when a chronoshift CD is up. Defend your primary base objects with dogs etc.

Yeah I always build walls around my MVC after seeing how easy it is to do.

I've won every single match by simply driving into their base with engineers and jumping out. Stopped doing it now as its a boring way to win - but no-one ever seems to protect against it. If I'm losing a game late on you can chronojump into their base in vehicles then jump out and capture everything. Works everytime. What happened to the pill boxes from the old RA2? The turrets in the game are extremely lame!! RA2's pillboxes stopped engineer rushing dead.

I love the allies though :D Last night played a game where the enemy had a load of Jap battleships or whatever they are. Huge ships with huge range. They were battering my team mates base from afar so I simply chronoshifted them onto the land!!

Snipers
GI
Rocketeer
Gap Generator
Weather Control Device
And the PROPER prism towers - They don't work as a team in RA3 :(

Crazy Ivan
Demolition trucks
Cloning Vats
Nuclear Missile Silo


RA3 is slightly dumbed down in my opinion

Don't forget Chrono Ivans. Those things were deadly. The biggest thing i miss is the "Allied Countries" selection. Like getting Desolators when being Iraq. Infact i miss Desolators a lot too. They were one of the best characters of all RA imo. "There goes the neighbourhood" :D

Also don't forget stuff like the French grand cannon and the Korean Black Eagles. 8 Black eagles could take a MCV down in one flyby :D

Is the beta closed now of if I download it can I still play (ea have finally sent my beta key through).

Beta closes on Monday, so if you're unsure on whether you're going to buy the game you can have a days gaming. When you sign it it'll say its already closed, just ignore that they've extended until Monday.
 
This was fun for a bit but I now absoloutely hate the multiplayer, I'll complete the campaign then put it on the shelf tbh.

EA is trying to turn C&C into a Starcraft style "Pro Gaming" game and it sucks.
