Welcome back comrades, it's been far too long.

EA is traveling seven years back in time to bring back the most-beloved series in the storied Command & Conquer™ franchise. The light-hearted, over-the-top, wacky world of Red Alert™ has returned with Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, shipping this holiday for the PC and Xbox 360™.

After years of conflict, the Allies are finally on the brink of victory. Cowering behind the walls of the Kremlin, the Soviets decide to turn to one last act of desperation - the use of an experimental time travel device. The mission: to go back in time to eliminate Albert Einstein before he creates the technologies that will lead the Allies to ultimate victory. After a successful mission, the Soviets return to the present, discovering the Allied position has weakened. But before they can truly celebrate, they find out their actions have spawned a new threat and global superpower, the mysterious, technologically advanced, Empire of the Rising Sun. Welcome to World War III.

In Red Alert 3, all three factions will have their own hand-crafted story-driven campaigns, with co-operative missions designed solely around coordinating attacks and developing strategies with an ally. Hook up with a friend online to go through the entire experience or choose from a group of AI commanders, each with their own distinct playstyle and personality.

While most RTS games keep naval gameplay at the periphery, Red Alert 3 is not shying away from the high seas. The oceans now hold essential resources, and with many units and structures capable of becoming amphibious, players who turn their backs to the oceans will find conquering the world a daunting task.

Only a couple of weeks left now so who's pre-ordered it and do you expect to receive it on the release date via post? I've pre-ordered it online but tempted to just go and buy it in the shops as have a feeling it wont turn up on the release date as it's coming from Jersey.

I was a member of the Beta and despite starting off hating it, my housemate persuaded me to give it a few more tries and I ended up loving it. Was a huge fan of CoH so thought Red Alert 3 was far too simplistic, but when you get used to it it's great for a different type of gameplay.

I still think CoH is a better game, but they're played two different ways so dont mind loving both. Looking forward to Co-op mode in multiplayer and seeing Gemma Atkinson in action in the videos :D

I love the RA games, but I don't agree with the DRM that EA are using, so I'm not going to buy it, simple as.
I'll certainly play it, plus since I rarely play RTS games online that won't be a problem.

What DRM are you referring to? Thought they were loosening the DRM after pressure from C&C fans? Bought Mass Effect recently and I've used up my 3 install limit already :( System crashed first time, then I moved to linux and back to XP again! Only cost £9.99 but if I'd paid full price for a game which I now cant use I'd be peeved!

The whole online activation thing doesnt really bother me, but install limits really put me off the PC gaming market. It's like having a DVD you can only play a few times before it becoming a coaster.

You need internet access to install & uninstall (if you want to free your install token up). Think EA said it allows 5 installs on 5 PC's which is quite generous. Also once activated no need to have the DVD in the drive to play.

Ahh right so long as you can get the install quotas back if you uninstall then thats fine. Thought it was a case that if you used up all 5 installs you had to bin the game which would have been incredibly lame!

Just over two weeks left now so long as the jersey place delivers on time woo!

is this a gold announcement then?

Well the game's gone gold so take it however you wish!

Well I think they have gone all out on this game to be honest. Just look at the cast in this game compared to the last game "red alert 2" RA3 has full mutli national cast of know actors/model etc.

I mean I played the Beta and thought it was wicked and even thou it may use some of the engine from c&c 3 I think they are a world apart. I have to say I think die hard red alert fans will love this game other fans of c&c which like the other games i dont think will like it as much. But I cant wait to play some 8 player FFA maps...... out of control lol.

I just wish they released a demo just to give everyone abit more a feel to the game. I also hope the game lives up to my over hyped speech :D. Hot women and tanks....... win win for me :p YEEEEE HAAAAA

You sound like my housemate. He loved the Red Alert beta and sat in only his pants drinking beer playing it saying "Theyre more comfortable than trousers as you often get excited in a big battle". Not sure what he meant by that but it scared me a little :(

Cant really advise if you'd like it or not as I hated the simplistic style gameplay of previous C&C games but grew to love the beta of this one. Best to look on gamereplays.com or the official red alert website. The latest video on the official website is a gameplay video of two of the dev team playing each other. Will give you an idea of the gameplay at least!

Just been on the official EA forums and it seems people are talking about the game now only supporting 6 players in multiplayer :( So much for 8 player FFA madness! Anyone else heard of it? Seems the game is out in Singapore today!

It's not that kind of game, you can't really take it seriously online. I'll be getting it to play with my flatmates though, nothing like a bit of backstabbing to give you a break from swearing at Mario Kart.

Quite the opposite! Online people take it too seriously. My housemate and I laughed many a time when we were playing a 2v2 and one of the other players was going mental at us saying we were cheating/n00bs/etc/etc because we were winning. Never understood why the losing team called us n00bs but there we go. Quote comical how angry people get over an online game! :D

Hmm with the features being stripped away here and there with RA3, does anyone know if diplomacy in multiplayer games is still present as in RA2?

In the beta it wasnt there, you simply chose teams at the start, but a FFA game would be fun with diplomacy! Any know if this is present in the final release?

I kinda like not having a demo. It makes the moment when you get to hold the box in your hands for the first time all the more special.

Unless the game in mention is Spore!! I made the utter mistake of buying that game and regretted it after the first hour :( Thank god I was able to get a refund the next day \o/

On another note, seems people are having loads of CD key problems and cant play online! Makes me feel better for living in the UK and not being the first country to get it. For those lucky enough to receive their copy tomorrow, but unlucky enough to get an invalid CD key or a manual where the CD isnt complete (missing last digit!!) then check here on the official forums:

patch 1.02 been release patch notes :nothing on 1.02

Patch 1.02 apparently reduces the "aggressive" patch checking done on startup whatever that means! It's meant to resolve the black screen a lot of people were getting when starting the game as the game checks for patches or something like that. I havent had it but my housemate always had to sit at a black screen for a few minutes before the menu appeared!
