Hi all,

I have just been reading an article over on AS (yes, its a friday, i'm allowed to skive off work!)...

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/95898

There was a commernt made by CH that says...

Horny Horner said:
Dietrich [Mateschitz] is passionate about the sport and, as a sponsor and a shareholder in another team, Sauber, Red Bull has been around F1 for over 15 years now.

Is he saying that RB has been in F1 for 15 years, or am I missunderstanding him?

I don't beleive that there has been an RB sponsor on the side of a car or otherwise back in 1996!?

Am i missing the point?

Gawd, it appears as though they have been. Blooming heck!

I wonder who has been the longest sponsor in F1 over the years?

He gave you all the info.
Anyway.

Then in 1995, Mateschitz bought a majority shareholding in Sauber, whilst also moving into other areas of motorsport, including Formula 3000, German Formula 3 and BMW Formula ADAC.

Maybe not longest, but one of the top ones.

McLaren had one of the longest sponsorship deals in F1 history with Marlboro, whose red-and-white pattern appeared on the team's cars for 23 straight years.[28]

Yeah Red Bull sponsored Sauber for many years before entering their own team.

I think the longest Sponsor/Team tie up in F1 is McLaren and TAG, although I may be wrong.

Here we go

Marlboro's red-and-white branding lasted until 1996, during which time the team went by various names incorporating the word "Marlboro", making it the then longest running Formula One sponsorship (now surpassed by Hugo Boss's 1981–present deal with McLaren[138

Ah, it was Hugo Boss, not TAG. Knew it was McLaren though.

I think the longest running Sponsorship within F1 is Marlboro. I didn't know till I did a little research that they're still sponsoring now , with a little 'bar code' like thing on the current Ferrari F150!

But for Team&Sponsor combo, couldn't tell you :)

The Team is still called Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro.

mclaren need to bring back the red and white :)

McLaren need to bring back the Orange!
