I want to get some red lighting for my case. Whats better, strips of leds or cold cathodes? I also know a lot of red lights can turn out to be pink so does anyone have any specific suggestions?

This is my case.

I just want something to light up my graphics card where the window is. Although having said that I wonder what having some lights behind those grills on the other side would look like o:

If you feel confident, just get some LEDs of your choice and solder them (use a sturdy piece of card as a baseboard). Otherwise, they may just be worth it. I reckon they're too expensive for what they are, but it's hassle free.

...or you can get some strips on the auction site...30cm with 12 LEDs has a slightly wider spacing than the Lian Li one (36cm with 26 LEDs) so I have to wonder how well it will light in comparison. Still just a few quid for 30cm and a little more for 60cm but you will need to get power to them yourself.

See my thread as I discovered about SMD LEDs the other day. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18185136

Mine have a pitch of about 2.5cm and they seem just fine. Great fun soldering, if you like that sort of thing.

Using standard LEDs may not give you the result you are looking for because of their viewing angle.

Don't have the equipment or time to faff about making them myself, there's some small strips on the bay with molex connectors that I think I'll try out.
