Doing a red and gold build ala ironman for my son

Anyone recommend a decent Intel mobo/cpu/GPU and cooler combo for around £400 or so

Any particular size board? ATX mATX etc? Many cases have a height limit for the cooler and gfx card length.

What about RAM?

will be a MATX Aerocool Xpredator cube

ram I've got a 16gig set of black Hyper x sitting here along with a spare 250gig 850 evo and a 2tb hdd

was also eying up one of the Raijintek AIO coolers at 50 quid with the red dye for this build for the CPU so that leaves

£400 for cpu/mobo/gpu in a MATX format with a max card length of 320mm or 345 if I bin the front fans off the case

will the above AIO work with the case?

The cooler is OTT if you won't be overclocking but whatever looks cool right :D

oh I certainly plan on clocking, so will need a K chip in there

call it £300 for a mobo/cpu/cooler funnily enough theres a 280x msi sitting in my media server that can be reappropriated, forgot about that ;)

Again this one has that brown tinge to the PCB.

1 x Asus Maximus VII Gene Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £159.95

That one is certainly black.

Ive added the ASUS gene above also, best mATX clocker.

The Gigabyte should be average, 4-4.5Ghz.

ideally i'd rather go for a quadcore for a touch of futureproofing. the K is a cracking chip(got one here running at 4.5 ) but I don't think its got the legs for gaming over the medium to long term

4670/4690k whats the differences?

so £200 for a chip
£70 for a cooler,

best clocking haswell MATX board for not a lot of cash ?

The 4690K is 100mhz faster, has improved (or so claimed) thermal interface between the die and the heatspreader.

looks like savings with the gpu are getting spent then lol

490k with the Raijintek cooler. what mobo with that Asus Gene?
