Cool tune, but..

I'm sure I've heard something very similar years ago. Is it a cover?

Am I also correct in saying somebody mentioned this a while back, that it's very similar to another song?

Sic is right(damnit I feel wrong for agreeing with you :p), the start is very reminiscent of Sweet Home Alabama, once the track kicks in it sounds a lot less like it though. In fact listening through it now I'd go so far as to say nothing like it bar the fact they mention Alabama near the start and there are solo sections in both.

Not a cover as far as I am aware but given almost all of their songs seem to centre around California in some way now it is entirely possible you have heard similar before.
 
A load of Chilli's songs sound almost identical.
The music can be different but Anthony uses the same sort of vocal patterns so they sound more or less the same.
They have a few standout tracks but a lot of their songs (particularly on the new album) sound like fillers.
I don't understand why they don't just make shorter albums with less poor tracks.

Never going to happen, you are often enough wrong for me not to have to worry about that, just look at your taste in music for example. ;) :)
