I just did a new build and the fan on my xfx 4850 comes on, but there is a red light and the monitor light just flashes as if it isn't connect to anything when I turn the computer on. I have plugged it into a 6 pin pci socket, any ideas?

The psu is an corsair 650w along with a e7500, 4 gigs and a Asus P5QL

Thanks!

Red light means power problem.

You can try reseating the card, use another pci-e 6pin (if your psu has one) or a molex-to-6pin, changing the type of cable (DVI or VGA). This seems to be quite a common problem.

Actually it depends which red LED is on, the D601 LED indicates a critical core power failiure, but it may be one of the others. You'll have to look closely at which it is (theres 4), then pop along to AMD/ATI support site it'll tell you on there which one means what
