Red light camera

Hi guys. I think if I'm not mistaken that the red light camera only actually flashes on red, so for example it must be red before you pass the line not after. Amber lights are ok to pass if un safe to stop I believe

Can anyone shed any light? Also, is there new traffic cams which don't flash??
And does anyone know about the speed camera along park lane west end which is painted in a dark colour??

In fact can anyone provide a link with the up to date speed cameras and what they look like?

Many thanks in advanced.

The camera on Park Lane is of a new type that doesn't need to flash - it will decide based on ambient light conditions. These types have been placed in to 'high risk' areas due to the volume of traffic, and carry a minimum of 6 points and a £500 fine.

Thank you for your response pmkeates.
As you have a knowledge for this camera can you confirm - of you are so close to the line and it suddenly changes amber and are not in a position to stop can you still get a ticket from that camera in park lane?

Also is that a 'dual' camera so to speak, combined with a speed camera? Your response is much appreciated.

Thanks

Jay

I was taken to court over a red light offence and ended up with a fine less than that of an FPN for the offence. Illogical.
