Weather conditions are also a factor ie wet/icy conditions, another car clsoe behind didnt want to brake as feared would cause collision. That will depend on the photographic evidence. Sometimes the camera takes multiple photographs not just two. If sat on the white line you caould ask the police to take a view, indicating that it is not in the public interest to prosecute.

I was young, had only been driving for about 3 months. I was on my way to a job interview and in a rush (no excuse i know). I had printed out directions from google maps and spent a lot of time looking at them through the city centre. Including once, where I went through a red light because of me not observing the road.

Undercover police behind me seen the lot and called in a marked unit. The marked unit thought I was "dodgy and attempted to pull me over. I slowed and pull over the to the kerb, next thing I know Ive stamped on the brakes as hard as I could because theres a police car diagonal in front of me.

Skidded into the rear door of a Police Skoda RS!:eek:

A 2 Hour interview at the roadside with the Cheif Seagent (some big top guy, no idea of his exact title atm) of Leicestershire Traffic/road police, and a summons to court about 3 months after being reported for "Careless driving"

£350 fine, and the I was handed 4 points on my lisense. The damage to the police car was not my fault, but I admitted careless driving for going through the red light and was handed the points for that.

Pretty much stuffed my insurance for a few years lol. Lesson learnt though. It has made me a better driver because of it, oh and Im mega glad these points are off my license.

Oh and I did get offered the job;) after re-arranging the interview lol

Afaik the sensor it triggered by the wheel as it goes over sensors in the road.
You could say that your wheel only just went over as you were stopping, but I think it will be down to the judge to decide whether the fine stands or not.

If you knew anything that would help him then you'd already know what legislation he has been accused of contravening wouldnt you? I mean it's hardly going to be the Offences Against the Person Act is it?
