Background:
  • Busy junction
  • Two lanes merge into one (at point 3), car was hesitating
  • Lorry blocking view of the second line (see picture 2)
  • Location

What happened:
  • I passed the solid white line shown on green
  • By the time I got to the dotted line for the next set of lights/repeater lights, the lights had gone red. Due to traffic and car to the side could not work out whether it was letting me in or not.
  • I couldn't actually see they had gone red until I was half way over the dotted line and saw a green pedestrian signal illuminated.

My question is, will I have triggered a flash from the camera for passing the original lights on green but the repeater lights further down the road on red? I.e. do they have that range/ability?

Not familiar with the area and didn't notice the crossing further ahead due to the other light being blocked/it being busy. Ultimately, my bad.

I don't think so.

Were you in traffic? If so you shouldn't have entered the junction at all unless you could clear it, but never mind

Or did you just cut it fine and the lights went red as soon as you crossed the first line?

I'm not going to Google how they work, because naturally you will have already done that before making this elaborate thread. ;)

The traffic was flowing but then seemed to stop just as I got there and was made worse by the ditherer next to me. I agree though, I should have waited until I could see it was clear rather than relying on traffic continuing to clear at the rate it was. My bad like I say.
