Red Pixel on Monitor

Evening all,

I've found something I've always dreaded... A little pixel that isn't playing on my monitor :( :p

In the top left corner of my monitor - on some backgrounds, I see a red pixel show.

On this test, I can see it faintly on a black background, and I can really see it badly on a blue background - Can't really notice it on any of the other coloured backgrounds though.

On some colours, I can't see anything wrong at all - For example, I'm typing this in Chrome - Can't see the pixel at all. However, I move the browser out the way and I can see the pixel again :(

At first I thought it was a Graphics Card issue, as I only really noticed it in-game - However, I can now see it whatever I'm doing (dependant on the colour in that region).

So what's the verdict? Is that a dead pixel? Or is this repairable at all? Now I see it, I won't be able to get it out of my vision :p

Thanks,
Marky

It's a stuck pixel. Sometimes randomly cycling colours on it fixes it.

Thanks for the link - Just gave it a go for 20 mins and came back to a blank screen as I realise I’d left my screensaver on :p

Got it running properly now, so fingers crossed!

If it doesn’t fix it in 30 mins or so - should I maybe leave it running over the course of the day tomorrow?

Relieved to hear it’s a stuck pixel rather than a dead pixel - hope I can get it un-stuck :p

I don't know whether running it for significantly longer works better. Don't get your hopes up, stuck pixels can still stay stuck for good, you just have a sliver of hope.

I hope it works for you!

Yeah I've had it running for a while now and it is still red :(

I think I'm going to leave it on over night out of pure desperation - But I think it's likely going to be stuck forever :( Very frustrating :(

If anyone else has any tricks to try - Please let me know!

I had a stuck pixel on my other monitor, so I have gone through these things too, it didn't help me either. Google "fix stuck pixel", there's a couple more suggestions.

You can tap the screen with the rubber end of a pencil, can sometimes unstick it.

Left it on overnight to no avail :(

I just googled "Fix stuck pixel" - Tried the first thing that came up... and I don't quite believe it... but it appears to have worked!

I hope it's a permanent fix, I will have to see but these are the instructions I followed:
  1. Turn off your monitor.
  2. Get yourself a damp cloth, so that you won't scratch the screen.
  3. Apply pressure to the area where the stuck pixel is. Try not to put pressure anywhere else, as this may trigger the creation of more stuck pixels.
  4. While applying pressure, turn on your computer and screen.
  5. Remove pressure and the stuck pixel should be gone.

After doing this, it still showed a little - But I used a microfiber cloth and messaged the area a little and about half a minute later it's gone
Tried the test in the link in OP and I can't see it at all!

I'm hesitant to get too excited incase it rears its ugly head again :p But for now I'm well chuffed :p

Thanks for the advice! :D
