Does any one know is microsoft actually repair red ring of death or do they bin the console and send another ?

cheers jay.

Red ring?

I'd call a GP sharpish

As for the xbox... not sure? I think they used to repair them as they ship them back to the factory in germany and my friends who have sent in 'core' ones recieved 'core' ones back, if they just swapped them out I dont see why they would ship them all to germany seperatly?

Having said that, who knows, if its totally shafted, or theyve changed their policy you might get a different one, is there a reason why youd want to keep it?

From what I read they recieve the console test it and send out a refurbished console that has the same specs as your console and then put your old one through the system to be refurbished.

Don't know how true that is though.

Seems to be different. I've sent off two consoles within a few months of each other, first one was replaced with a brand new console (same specs, but very recent mfg date) whereas the other was just repaired.

The one that was replaced was back to my door in under a week, whereas the repaired one took two weeks.

Probably something to do with work loads, stock, repair centre or even just the technician who looks at it.

I was well chuffed with the replaced one, because I bought it locally from eBay for £12 and the guy gave me the receipt showing it was bought just over a year ago, didnt even have to bother doing the RROD fix.
