I have just put together a new rig and have a new monitor as well (ASUS VG248QE) which is capable of 120/144hz refresh rates.

However whenever I set any refresh rate above 60hz my screen gets blue/red lines and it artefacts quite badly. Here is a sample image; http://postimg.org/image/pvwnrlnl3/

I've reset the monitor settings on the OSD with no change in behaviour.

The DVI cable is the one supplied by ASUS that comes with the monitor

I have tried different DVI ports on the GPU (geforce gtx 760) but no difference.

I have also tried taking a 'screenshot' and it appears fine (no artefacts or strange colours) when I set my screen back to 60hz to look at it - so I assume it isn't a GPU issue.

Any ideas?

You are right about the screenshot, if it appears fine then the gpu is OK. All you can do is try a different cable (make sure it is a DVI dual link) if that makes no difference it is a faulty screen and you need to RMA it.
