Hey guys!

So I've been deliberating over cases etc to house my HD7990 and none have really sufficed. My 600T seemed to not be up to par cooling wise despite it having plenty of intake, my precision was too slim meaning the side quickly became too hot and then my Sugo...which cooled the card best couldn't cope with an overclocked i7.

What did I decide to do? Well I've picked up one of the Aero Cool "Dead Silence" Cases in the fantastic Red colour as a compromise between the size/cooling issue and things are certainly looking up.

First off the spec:

Intel i7 3770k @ 4.4Ghz
Sniper M3 Motherboard (only part I'm not happy about, you'll see why)
16GB Corsair Ram
HD7990 6GB Dual GPU
2xSSD 60GB + 120GB
1x1TB HDD
Corsair H80i + 4xCorsair SP120 fans + 200mm Cooler Master.

First Impressions:

Well as you can see below it certainly is a BOLD choice in colour but fits into the theme with the fans and the GPU. While the Sniper doesn't quite work with things it's a top quality board and I just couldn't justify the extra expenditure.

The Case has a lovely matte finish with no shine on the front material and a nice rubberised touch. I did try a Blu-Ray Drive in the bay however it just didn't look right, will possibly give it a go with the Bit Fenix Fan Controller but time will tell on that one.

A nice window on the side also which unlike the Xigmatic cases which have just been released stops just shy of the PSU compartment which in my eyes, is, a good thing! Focal point is clearly on the GPU and none better than an HD7990 or MSI themed cooler to do the job.

Construction.

Well the packaged instructions were fairly basic and really not at all useful, only really describing how to remove both the 5.25 and 3.5 bays as worthwhile. As you can see it holds a similar interior layout to the Prodigy keeping the hard drives and PSU below with some holes for cable routing.

Everything does however come labelled which makes a good bit of difference during the build.

I was particularly impressed with the hard drive bays, both supplied with one section for standard HDD's and then another for the slimmer SSD's.

At the top there is an interchangable grill for if you want Silence or Cooling...since the HD7990 is a hungry beast in this department I opted for some additional cooling with the SP120's pulling down more cool air into the chassis straight to the HD7990 and H80. It did however get a little tight with the H80 housed in the exhaust bay so something to bear in mind.

The instructions advice to hold a 240mm radiatior in the top secition underneath the grill with the fans inside the case, this seems an odd design choice since you may want your cool air coming directly over the rad, however it could be mounted either way if required.

As you can see plenty of space for housing the cables underneath the motherboard tray keeping things as neat and tidy as can be expected.

Finished Look:

...and now for some 'Glamour Shots' of the full build.

With Blu Ray Drive installed

...and additionally with an LED installed under the window panel to highlight things.

Conclusion:

Well I'm impressed, not only with the looks and the ease of installation but the quality of the Case for the price. I paid just a smidge over £70 for it and the fact it comes with a side window which is usually at premium, the difference here was a couple of quid.

Performance wise the temps overall have dropped for both the CPU and GPU 10 and 5 Degrees respectively and the case can be kept as quiet as you want.

I may install my BitFenix Fan Controller a little later but happy with the way things are right now.

AeroCool in my eyes have just never had an appealing option for me in the case front however that's certainly changed with the Dead Silence.

Nice build especially love the 7990 lit in the window panel.

Quick question though if you'd have put a 240 rad in the roof could you still fit an exhaust/intake fan on the rear.

Yeah that would be fine...your fans are either going to be on the outside or inside of the frame depending on how you mount the rad.

The only problem I've had is because the H80i is pretty big so space in that corner is tight, if you had a Rad you'd have no issue either. :)

The HD 7990 looks great I know :D However it may be replaced to take advantage of the current prices they go for.

Would look to replace with a 290x or the MSI GTX 780 which would both fit the colour scheme well too :)

So it would be possible to fit a 120 rad in the back and a 240 in the top without modification?

Interesting possibilities.

Yup...I'm considering an R9 290x with a Hybrid Accelero in the rear and my Saidon 240m on top for the CPU (when the RMA is complete).

If you want to do it then the RAD will need to be in the top compartment of the case with the fans underneath but yup...will work fine.

If i installed a H100 in the roof of one of these is the top drive bay useable at all? for a bitfenix recon for example? As its a very slim 5.25 bay device which is front front to the end of the heatsinks afew cm.. Works with modified heatsinks on the prodigy this would interest me a lot

I've answered it in the other thread but I'm going to stick my Recon on today mate to try that out anyways, I'll let you know, but right now I'm 100% certain you won't have an issue.

Yeah i found this after apologies :) It would be great to see once you've done it i checked out there website and they claim for rad and fans in push or pull and u can still use 5.25 bay but if u start doing push/pull then u cant

Hope am allowed to post this image. I hope this to be true and the top cover still fit over the fans

Can't beat confirmation from the manufacturer ;)

You certainly can fit your fans under top cover, there is however some latch which seems...dare I say...pointless which causes the back fan at the top to make a noise, lets just say that can bent away and causes no issue ;)

Im confused what you mean by this :) This case is looking very appealing to me. All i need is the case, Mobo, processor and ram. Looked at comparison videos to prodigy too and its perfect! I wanted a prodigy M but i wanted the M to have the board in same orientation like they did in the ITX

There's like a small rubber latch thing next to the connector for the top vent, it appears to serve no purpose but interfered with my 120mm fans when placed on the top secition, you'll notice this if you buy the case mate...sorry for confusion caused :p

Stuck the Recon in the first slot, looks much better than a Blu Ray drive ;)

Looks like a lovely little case to build in. Would go great with some msi ging kit in there. Recon looks much better than the optical too.

It certainly is...plus pretty much a colour to fit just about every GPU shroud/fan.

I agree the Recon looks much better, going to keep it on for sure now.

Yea thats to be expected just wondered if it could atleast vent a bit. I was going to build a ITX system for the living room but as usual the spec gets carried away so i thought i'd just shrink my main rig.

for gaming and heavy tasks ill run the mesh, its just for the GF when she gets on one of her Sims sessions :(

Yeah, as mentioned above the vents continue up the front to the top of the case so there is some opportunity to vent but will be restricted.

It would have been ideal if they designed to hold 2x120mm fans at the front as the majority of the 200mm front fan is supplying air to the bottom of the case. Im going to attempt to fix this slightly higher to help airflow even further.

Good idea, get some pictures up if/when you can :)

Well the way the mesh works it turned out to be the ideal size for the screw mounts ;)

Can fit 2x120mm fans above and below one another on the front panel and as you can see, the top one sits snug to the bottom of the 5.25" bay drive :)

RMA has been sent to Cooler Master, no idea how long the turnaround will be but I will be re-building again soon...with the Seidon in tow with a R9 290 cooled by an Accelero Hybrid :)

Hmmm you've now sparked an idea for my project. Are the front fans loose at all or are they rock solid???

Rock solid mate...

Top on is screwed in at the bottom two points however as it sits flush against the drive bay it is solid ;)

Bottom is screwed in at the top two points and seems solid enough too, plus it's only the standard 120mm fan that came pack with the case so @ 600rpm it won't rattle about.

Worked surprisingly well.

i really like this case, but the cable management in it looks awful..

Yeah...cable management could be better...depending on the size of your mobo you essentially have one part to feed it all through.

I probably could have done a much better job of it however not something you're going to see. Would love a Modular PSU which would help massively.

Temps wise my card was running at the rated 94-95C for an R9 290 and the CPU when overclocked is around 70C load @4.4Ghz w/1.3V on my H80i.

I now have a accelero hybrid fitted to my R9 and your talking idling @ 30-35C and load is 70C.
