Red Snapper Tripod/Monopod

just as a heads up, if your a TP member you used to get 10% off redsnapper gear if you mentioned TP. not sure if its still going on but its worth a try.

I've had a 283 set of tripod legs for few months now which I use with an older Arca swiss monoball. For the money they really do seem hard to beat. They're not as solid as an old Gitzo that I have, but being fair the Gitzo weighs nearly as much as my car, and are nothing like a sensible option for carrying over any distance.
My sister has a Manfrotto of similar size (can't remember the model number), but the RS legs appear to be just as solid and well made.

Don't get me wrong, I'd buy a good set of Gitzos if I could, but they'd probably cost at least 5 times more. They get the thumbs up from me.

I got the 4 section tripod and 3-way head just before Christmas. It was on offer for £50 (the 3 way head came free). I plan to upgrade to the ball head in future.

Hugely impressed with it, it is very well made indeed. I saw a Manfrotto (not sure of model but it was around £170) in a high street shop few days later, and in all honesty, for the money AND build quality, I much preferred the redsnapper.

They were still doing this just before christmas as I got the discount too, sure they are still doing it. Just need to order it and then PM him your order number and he will refund the 10%

Another thing to note is the bag that comes with it is great quality and very comfy to carry, one thing that also swayed me as many other tripods won't come with one

and if anybody hasn't noticed, the bag has an internal pocket with the short centre column & tools in it :)

i got dad the monopod for xmas and i was very impressed. the ball head is pretty much identical to the manfrotto 486RC2 but with a bubble level

I've got the tripod, very happy with it. If you join talkphotography forums (and it is the second best forum on the internet) redsnapper will give you a 10% discount.

I'm now very keen on the monopod.

Is that a Sigma 70-300 APO? How do you find it?

I have the tripod and ball head, quality is fantastic. Bloke at work was after a good one, took it in to show him, and now he is going to get one as well. I use it to take vertical shots for product photography as well, and it is very sturdy with a DSLR on it! I trust it.

Received my monopod today (ordered yesterday)

Not pulled it out fully to check as I only just got in, but it has a nice weight to it and seems solidy built.
Does not come with a bag (as I previously asked :p)

I have a Sigma 70-300 as well which I was hoping to use for more stabilised shots and will also consider mounting the head on a gorillapod clone (hope it works!)
