Red wine russian roulette question

The second is actually a basic probability problem. What you must look at is the probability of NOT getting a bullet, which is 5/6. For one gun the probability of dying is 1 - ((5/6)^1) or 1/6. For two guns it’s 1 - ((5/6)^2) or 11/36 - about a third. For 3 guns it’s 1 - ((5/6)^3) or 109/216, about half. Etc...

Usually, when people ask this, they mean: "If I pull the trigger on all 6 pistols, what are the odds that I catch a bullet from at least one of them?"

This is not (1/6)⁶. To find this, it is easiest to calculate the odds of the opposite happening - surviving all 6 pulls unscathed - and subtract that from 100%.
  • The odds of an empty chamber on a single pull are 5/6.
  • The odds of getting 6 empty chambers in a row are (5/6)⁶.
P(at least one fires)=1-(5/6)⁶

P(at least one fires) =
1- 15,625/46,656 = 31,031/46,656

This comes out to roughly 66.5%. So, if you fire all 6 guns, you have a roughly two-thirds chance of shooting yourself at least once.

With my luck, I would survive all six chambers, breathe a sigh of relief, and accidentally shoot myself the moment I put the last pistol down, entirely missing the chance to mentally spend that hypothetical million quid.

Simple, one bullet in a revolver that holds 6 bullets or 1.bullet in x number of revolvers
These are two different things.
One bullet in X No revolvers is a 1 in X times six.
One bullet in each revolver is just 1 in 6 every time you pick a fresh one up, no matter how many you work through.

Worth noting that a good many revolvers only hold 5 or fewer rounds... unless you're Arnie, with a 7-shot six-shooter!

I always think of the traditional wild west weapon or Clint Eastwood Jobby with 6 chambers.,.so In my mind you would pick up I weapon out of say 10 , or whatever your risk tolerance is , knowing 1 bullet is in one of the 60 chambers .
I was thinking risk vs reward when I posted but yeah I can see how you picked up on the mental health aspect ,.knowing mine is fragile and appreciate the comments

Simple, one bullet in a revolver that holds 6 bullets or 1.bullet in x number of revolvers , so 6 Revolver's hold a 1 in 36 chance of blowing yourself away .
Question what's the minimum amount of revolvers that contain 1 bullet for a million quid that you would risk your life for ? ( Wine gone moved on to the whiskey)
To clarify what's the minimum amount of revolvers you would pick one out ,.point at your head and pull that god damn trigger for a million ..
