redid my overclock

Asus sabertooth z77,noctua nh-d14

I have had a dodgy cold boot issue since I started overclocking the chip. I can use the system all day with out issue then leave it for 24 hours then I will get a cold boot restart.

8 pack has been giving me advice about the vccsa because its a memory controller issue. He has now advised me to change the vccsa to 1.1 which I have done as my vcore at 1.38 is red but what I really need to know is does red really mean lay off the voltage increase.

well its personal choice, for me anything below 1.4v cpu voltage and 80c temps is ok

I have a 2600k chip that needs 1.344v for 4.5ghz,it just depends on each cpu

it doesn't cold boot loop though,if your running 16gb of memory you might need more vccsa, but 8gb is ok at stock 1.05v vccsa

one/two clicks more dram voltage might help cure the cold boots, you would need to test,i use 1.55v myself

I was thinking maybe I should flash the BIOS since theres been 3 or 4 versions since I got the board but I heard that asus have had a couple of dodgy revisions lately.

Does the the voltages going red mean lay off?

its just asus's way of telling you to be aware of what voltages your using I guess

youll be ok at 1.38v,is that what it uses at 100% stress in cpu-z?

Well I will go to the 1.1 vccsa as 8 pack advised because before I was at 1.05 so I am getting there. 1.38 in BIOS @ 4.7 stressed in IBT 67 75 77 73. If I were to stress in prime I would be 10 degrees down on those temps, so I think it's safe to say I am stable it's just the memory issue.

I will stay at the 1.1 vccsa and 1.38 vcore and see if anymore cold boot issues happen.

No it gets nowhere near 1.38 in cpu-z more like 1.35 but if I set 1.36 in the BIOS I get a BSOD.

are you using offset cpu voltage or fixed 1.38v?

with offset the cpu downclocks to 1.6ghz at idle/web browsing ect and switches to full speed 4.7ghz and voltages if stressed/playing games ect

1.2v is the max safe for vccsa so you can try a touch more to see if it cures cold boots

I did many years ago with a p2 that had a pentium overdrive on it to give it an extra 33MHz I nearly set fire to my bed because I fell asleep whilst drinking whiskey.

PS I like your robocop homage, emile antanonoswski was my favorite bad guy (one on far left) as he look like my borthers friend but with less hair :)
