Hi

We have Server 2019 onour server and Windows 10 on all clients. All clients have desktop, documents etc redirected to the server via GPO which all works fine.

My question is if I save a file in a users documents folder directly on the server why can they not see this file on the clients machine?

@Bouton Aide That is exactly what the problem was. The permissions were not correct for the files I was copying over.

Now I think about it, it is so obvious!

Thanks for the help.

I don't. Offline files are great for companies with more than 100 people. Makes backups sooo much fuss free..
I hate offline files and redirection... This can suck your resources if (l)users don't behave.

Onedrive and known folder redirection is where its at, with any size company imo! though i've still got users who will never let go of there personal network drive.

It is a point of view, my company does not allow OneDrive for regulatory reasons...
But I will be personally looking into those closer when I be doing home lab soon

*Shudders* Folder redirection and offline files have always been a nightmare. I think even Microsoft says to stay well clear of it.

It's all well and good when things work 100% but lose a file server (PC grinds to a crawl), have sync issues on laptops....good luck ;-)

UEV / Teams / Onedrive for Business / Layer2 all better alternatives
