Now AVG, Adaware and Kaspervesky (or however you spell it) all say the PC is clean (it did ahve a virus some form or av2009 i think)

However

trying to browse to or ping any web site remotely to do with av software re-directs me back to 127.0.0.1.

I have looked at the hosts file (and confirmed by putting my own entry in that its using that hosts file) I have also checked for anything in startup and on the run keys that could be pre-loading stuff into the cache.

I have checked the IP setting and dns in network settings - also there is no proxy server set in ie

I have used several utilities to reset the IP stack incase anything is hooked into there..

I know I can jsut reinstall the PC but I keep getting people come to me with this problem after they have cleaned virus' and it would be nice to know how to fix the problem..

anyone have any idea how I am being re-directed?

Thanks in advance for any ideas

My sis had this problem, picked up a bug from myspace(fairly new bug i think)

Was an easy fix, something had changed the proxy server/DNS settings from automatic to manual 127.0.0.1 port 9090.

Is this the same issue your having?

If so quick fix is goto Network connections and check Internet Protocol TCP/IP settings
