Hi All!

Hoping someone can offer advice on a rig build. I want to make the jump from CPU rendering to GPU rendering, from Vray to Redshift with Cinema4D. I do a lot of modelling, animation, as well as video editing, motion graphics, photoshop and illustrator. I'm using a wacom Cintiq which seems to have an effect on my current GPU. I could either build an entirely new PC and keep my old one as a render slave, or modify my current rig with a few graphics cards - If I could do that I'd save a lot of money.

My current rig (5 years old now)
CPU: i7-4930k 3.4GHz
GPU: NV Geforce GTX 670
BOARD: Asus X79 Deluxe
RAM: 32GB DDR3 1600MHz
POWER: 850W
COOLING: XSPC Raystorm 750 EX240

Can I add 2 x RTX 2070 Turbo's in this and carry on as normal. The idea being, when I can afford it I can update the rest? Or is it just totally incompatible?

My other option is a complete new build, which I will have to wait on money before I can buy, and I'm very impatient! Here's what I'm thinking (taken from cgdirector.com awesome rig build calculator)

CPU: Intel i9 9900k
GPU: 2 x RTX 2070 Turbo
BOARD: Asus Prime z390-A ATX 1151
RAM: 32GB DDR4-3200
POWER: 1000W
COOLING: Not planning on overclocking so will go with conventional fans

Any advice would be amazingly helpful! Thanks

Redshift info for you

https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/a...PU-Scaling-in-OctaneRender-and-Redshift-1258/

so scales perfectly! 3 to 4 cards is then drops

Also shows Blower versions are better if in a tight rig or planning to add a 3rd/4th card . 3 slot solutions would be worse thermally for you

Octane Bench would offer better scaling though, if you plan on 3/4 cards in future

also mix and match to suit your budget!

difference in RTX and GTX power - RTX 2070 does beat 1080ti nicely!

4 year warranty , but 2.5 slot so wouldn't be able to add a 3rd in future

if your able to drop to 9700k or wait till July for Ryzen 3000 if you need 16 threads and grab dual 2080...
even ryzen 2700 + x470

worth looking at Davinci Resolve for Video work as it will use GPU and CPU hardware a lot better then Adobe Prem!!!!! makes use of those £1000 GPU order and ryzen is at an equal playing field !

Gigabyte/Aorus boards are the best z390 boards, a lot better then asus and UK RMA
