Redshirt looks like a really interesting game from Positech (See: Kudos, Democracy) and Tiniest Shark. The game seems to be a parody of social networking, with you being a lowly redshirt attempting to make friends with the right people, say the right things, and generally shmooze around so you don't get sent on away missions. Plan your time, go out in the evenings with your boss to make them like you more, like their spacebook posts, and try to survive!

There are a series of developers logs available:

Pre-orders have started now, which gives you beta access, as well as an eventual steam key on final release, and also the planned mac and linux versions when available.

The base game is £16.63, however if you buy more than 1 copy of the game, additional copies are 50% off. Meaning that 2 copies is £24.95, or £12.48 each, 3 copies are £33.27 or £11.09, and so on.

Anyone interested in this game? Its getting lots of good press from sites such as RPS (twice) and PC Gamer.
If you are interested, I might start up a thread in the MM to look at getting some people together for the bulk buying discounts!

Based on the book Redshirts?

If not, they seem to have a remarkably similar concept.

Well, the deb blogs were posted back in March of last year, and Amazon says the book was published in May of this year, so I would assume its just a coincidence!

The book was published June 2012, so I suppose it must be a bit of a coincidence.
