Hi all,

our son has damaged the bottom of his screen so the bottom inch or so is all black now (unfortunately where the icons are for games etc).

The screen is an old 19" 1280x1024, is there a way to force windows 7 to display a letterbox 1280x768 so the top and bottom sections of the screen aren't used, until we can get him a new screen?

I've had a play but the screen seems to auto adjust to new settings and stretch the images so to speak.

Thanks.

Lowering the res will still fill the whole display itself along with making it look distorted.

You could try change the monitor settings and lower the 'height span' so it doesn't use part of the top and bottom of the screen. :)

I've just tried but the only settings available for the screen are to shift up/ down and left/right, but shifting up moves the top of the display off the screen.

Is there a way to force games to a window, instead of using a full screen?

if its an amd card you can look in ccc display/monitor settings and create a custom screen size, save it and then select it in the game settings

If it's an Nvidia card go into settings and set No Scaling -> Display, then select a lower resolution. Due to issues with Nvidia drivers this will do exactly what youre asking for, rather than what it's supposed to.
