Hi,

Sometimes I get a really annoying vibration sound coming from the side of my desktop case. If I press on the case it goes away which is telling me its the vibrations from the hard drive.

Is there anything I can do to reduce the vibrations from the hard drive?

Thanks

Will give that a go once I get some elastic thread.

Other idea I had was since the hard drive just sits in the plastic slots I could stick some foam or something in the sides between the hard drive and the plastic slots, hopefully that would help.

Thanks again for the reply.

Cant say as to how well it works, not used it myself and it has mixed reviews.
I would be surprised if a single piece metal bar is simply surrounded by rubber as suggested in one of the reviews. Usually those type of dampners are 2 threades pieces attached to one another by the rubber surround (A shearing action will show movement). But who knows, sometime odd design choices are made.

The bungee mod is certainly effective. But the best I have found is to simply have the unneeded hdd's power down when not in use. Having an ssd as an OS drive certainly helps in this regard.
Anopther cheap alternative if you can guarantee thet the case wont be moved when powered is to have it sit loose on a foam pad. You could even use velcro strips to secure the foam to the case floor and another to secure the hdd to the foam.

I was clearing out some of the boxes and never realized that the ThermalTake A31 Chaser came with an attachment that meant instead of putting my hard drive in the slots along the side there was a thing that let me install it to where my DVD drive is.

The attachment also had rubber washers around the screw holes so I installed it there and its nice and quiet now :)

Maybe I should start reading instructions from now on lol
