Right don't know too much about this one but my bro has a music track on the PC (non-copyright) that he is wanting too put onto cd. Unfortunately though the track/file size is too big and he is looking for a way too reduce the size of the file too fit onto one cd.

Is there any software out there can reduce the file size with minimum or no loss of sound quality or are there any other methods too reduce file size?

Thanks guys.

is it a large wav file that he wants to put on cd or more likely buring an audio cd?

if its an audio cd the only real way is to trim off some of the music or find a larger capacity cd

80min cds are popular and more than likely what you have there are larger ones out there but more rare / expensive and may not work in all cd players.

another option is to split the track across two cds?

is he wanting to put it onto a disc as a file, like an mp3?

or does he want to burn it as an audio cd

if he wants it as an audio cd, then use something like audacity to split the file into two sections, or to cut out parts..

Thanks for the response so far guys, he is wanting too burn it as an audio cd. It did cross my mind too split the track onto 2 cd's but he wants it on one cd.

audio cd's work on length, and length alone

-ie, even if you compressed it to 32kb/s mp3, when you burn it as an audio cd, it'll be decompressed to wav (full file size again) and burnt to disc

his options are split it or lose some (cutting out gaps if there are any will help)

-if you don't mind me asking, what is it for?
