Reducing icon size on desktop Windows 7

I have these huge great bulbous desktop Icons and I want to make them smaller.
How the hell do you do it in Windows7.
All I've managed to do so far is bunch them closer together with a percentage reduction somehow, which I can no longer find how I did that. lol

Right-click desktop, View\Small Icons.
