Reducing LED brightness

I've got an old Akasa white LED strip knocking about, and I want to use it in my case but it's too bright and shows up all the dust and what not on the window. Is there any way (other than actually covering up the LEDs with a filter) to make the lights dimmer, such as a resistor for a molex cable or something?

Cheers

a potentiometer or something like a zalman fan-mate will do this. A resistor would work but it would be trial and error to get the correct brightness.
Bare in mind there is a forward voltage for the leds, going under this voltage (lets say 6v) will fail to light them up.

I'm not sure why I hadn't considered something like the Zalman Fanmate. I think I'll grab a molex-to-3pin adapter and give it a go. Cheers!!
