Okay so I need a way to reduce the low frequencies from my sub travelling through the floor to my flat mate.

Any advice would be great as I don't want to reduce sound quality or damage the sub (its active from the Logitech z5300 series)...

Thanks for any help in advance :)

1) False floor with dampening properties.
2) Line Wall with sound deadening foam
3) Mount sub on soft surface to reduce vibration through floor. (On foam, anything to help stop vibrations through the floor)
4) Suspend sub in mid air with bungee's
5) Turn the sub down.
6) Buy headphones to be considerate to your flat mate.
7) Buy him a decent system as well so he can annoy you as well, at least he won't complain
8) Turn on 'quiet mode/night-time mode' if you have it.
9) Change the room your sound equipment is in.

...and so on :)

Change to a dipole type subwoofer :D

(does not create pressure in room, not audible from sides top or bottom, only front and back).

Thanks for all the advice; I think I will try some foam first; I have headphones but even during the day I am being told it is too much on the lowest bass setting.

If that is not effective then the Auralex GRAMMA looks like the perfect thing for the job!

Since it sounds like he is below you foam should help to some extent. It will be quite marginal though since the sub is still creating pressure in the room and hence causing flexing of the walls, floors and ceilings. Definately try placing it on a cushion or something thick and soft (ideally foam) and perhaps plugging the bass port with a sock(s) to reduce the bass extension. Both of these will be cheap/free to try :)
