Well I'm in the bracket for compulsory redundancy from the army, question is what the hell do I do if I'm chosen on the 12 June lol.things I'm looking at are possibly applying for the MPGS or going into hotel management which is basicly what I have been doing for the last ten years,I have also looked into doing the fiber-optic cse to work for virgin media, also have my C+E licence to fall back on.
Anyone got any advice
(good thing is my pay off should be enough to buy a small 2 bed house outright so no rent/morgage payments to worry about)

How long do i have to be in the army before i get a free house? If i apply what role should i go for? I don't want to get shot at.

Can you get a job at DTE? ( not sure if the mpgs/mgs are recruiting at the moment ? )

Or working on the defence estate for landmarc, turners, sedexo
I know they are always calling out for range managers ect

Anyway best of luck to you for the future

Isn't redundancy around 1 month per year of service typically, or as low as one week legally, I'm guessing your redundancy would be sub 15k assuming you've been in since 18.

My brothers friend completed basic last year, and is now based near london, he says he commutes each weekend to work there mon-fri, and is paid £400 extra a month to cover travel costs.

He claims to take home £2'500 after tax/NI, and claims that all he does it watch jeremy kyle all day at base.

If this is legit, then it doesn't sound like a bad setup.

But ofcourse, joining the army purely for financial circumstances isn't morally right anyway, and my understanding was always that they earned somewhere in the region of 16-20k early on in their career with the forces.

Confused

^^ If he is an officer then yes this could be true. farfecthed but possibly :/... If he isnt an office and only finished basic last year then no he is bum will be jealous of the poo coming out of his mouth.

To the OP, if you can sit on your lump sum and pension then MPGS wont be too bad, back on private wages but meh, needs must. The amount of people with fibre Q's is amazing and its not easy to get a job with virgin or bt. The oppertunities are there you just have to find them.

I doubt he's an officer, the lad is only 19/20 or so!
