hi ref my other thread about if a i7 is worth it for games over a e8400 would selling my e8400 and getting a 6700 quad be a better option , as i stated i use it for games as well as a little video encoding;)

Just go for the Q6700 and clock it, far better value than having to buy a new mobo and ram and after the sale of your E8400 shouldn't break the bank :)

Heh rippling is chompin at the bit to spend some money! :p

I'm having problems understanding why anyone with an Intel E8400 is clucking like a chicken to blow a wad on a new CPU to improve gaming!

These forums are evillllllllll ! :D

But what did you get after selling your lovely E8400 then BW. lol

A bit pointless really as it will be a downgrade for all but video editing. The E8400 is between 5-10% faster clock for clock at single-threaded applications, which lets face it is still more than 50% of current apps. It's also faster at dual core, which for the sake of arguement is another 40% of current apps. That means that there are roughly 10% of applications that might see a performance gain, but generally probably won't be that noticeable. Stick with what you have. The E8400 is an awesome cpu.
