What was wrong with it
Black screens and all games were frequently getting pretty pink flashing squares!
Chances are your getting refunded.

Your into your modding and as you need a blower cooler, I'd say a ref(Titan cooler) 780, paint the cooler and sand off the illuminated(green)Geforce paint, it lights up white iirc, but you won't be able to return that one if it goes faulty.

I would rather that than a 3rd party cooler.
Not one for the 780s, the money could get me another reference 290 from the MM, not willing to pay out more. 290s are clear better value for money and my case mod keeps the reference cooler less than 60% fan usage which is perfectly acceptable!
I know the 290's are where the monies at=bbfb, just presumed you were after a new gpu, £320 is more respectable for a 780 though and not the usual far off price point we are more accustomed to expect.
