Hey guys

Just noticed today that the max temp of my ref 970 was hitting 80c! This is under load but at stock. I haven't set a custom fan profile so its only at 40% while this is going on. Is the card bad or do i just need a custom profile? The case has very good airflow and other cards have been great. Don't think my 290 ever went over 65c

Many thanks

That's just how they are designed to run, Nvidia GPU Boost. It will change the clock speed and fan speed to keep the temperatures at that level.

You could manually change your fan speeds to try lower the temperatures.

My G1 970 runs max 65c, can have the GPU at 99/100% and it never peaks above the 65c. That is with MSI afterburne set at auto, although my card sits vertically in my case and I have an 2 intake fans and 1 to push out the heat, so that should be helping as well.

Thanks guys downloaded after burner and set fan to 1-1 ratio with temp. Not going over 65c at full load. Quite in my R4 case as well. Idle at 27c
