If buying a 980 ref D to remove and put a water block on do you just get the cheapest in stock? is their any difference between the ref D apart form the whats in the box ?

Do they all clock as well? or do you wait for custom block's for the custom designs.

Not necessarily.

Classified on water is the best combination for overclocking potential and warranty (ETA 6 weeks)

EVGA reference for warranty purposes

Currently in the queue to step my 780 Classy up to a 980 ACX 2.0.

Wish you could step up to a Classy. :D Not a big fan of having a voltage locked card, but will still be faster than my 780 Classy at least. ;)

evga seem to be most expensive is this due to good customer service and the step up prog?

Their customer service is OK. However, do bear in mind that after one year IIRC you would need to RMA directly to them and they are in Germany.

Same goes for MSI. Their customer service is fantastic, but sadly they are in The Netherlands. Which means an expensive postage price when sending back something like a GPU or motherboard (I've done both and service was fantastic). They too let you remove the cooler.

The best company to buy from still is Gigabyte. They are the only GPU manufacturer who has a UK based RMA and HQ (Milton Keynes). They also let you remove the cooler..

Personally I would usually pick EVGA as their cards are nice looking and they have a decent CS rep. However, if you're going with stock always go with Gigabyte.
