Reference R9 290 noise annoying me now.. Upgrades?

Did you use VRM sinks? They are like another £10 that is the reason i am asking

I believe, the kraken one doesn't cool the VRM's but the Corsair one does?

The Corsair one cools the VRMs just about enough for you to not have to worry about it, if the card sits in front of an intake fan the better still

Ran 290X Crossfire on Krakens, as long as you add heatsinks it keeps the vrms in check.

I can't believe people are telling you to get a 390/390X when it is basically the same card.

Go for a better cooler is my advice and much cheaper

This. Had one of these for my 4870x2 once upon a time. Excellent product. Still way quieter than my msi 390 is could barely hear anything under load. Original reference cooler sounded like a jet engine taking off.
