Hello all. New to OC UK. I bought my last 2 PC's from ************ over the years but was left unsatisfied with both of them, so I hope a PC from here will change that.

I have selected what I think are good components, but some input from those more knowledgeable than I would be greatly appreciated. It is purely for gaming, surfing the web, music...just entertainment. Ok mainly gaming. It may need some refining with my choices. I have £2000 to spend on it.

Think that's the main things. But...

1, is 16gb memory overkill? I don't think I've come across anything for gaming that used that much. Though for future proofing...

2, I've seen better nVidia 980's than the ones you select in system configurator, but they're not on the list of choices. Can you somehow select a better one. Or is a few more clock mhz even worth it.

3, is the PSU too much or too little.

The whole thing comes to £1, 908. I'd rather not go over but I could do. I don't need mouse or keyboard, monitor or sound systems. I already have those.

Thank you very much for any replies.

Build the PC yourself & choose a better case as that thing is hideous and a waste of money.

If it's just for gaming, do you really need to spend 2k?
What monitor do you currently have & what games are you looking at playing.

You can get a SLI 970 build for £1300.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Z97MX Gaming 5 - Devil's Canyon i5 4690K CPU & Micro ATX Motherboard Bundle **£14 Saving** £267.54
2 x EVGA GeForce GTX 970 ACX 1.0 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (04G-P4-0972-KR) £265.99 (£531.98)
1 x Parvum Systems S2.0 MicroATX Case - Black with Red £139.99
1 x Crucial MX100 256GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter (CT256MX100SSD1) £79.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H80i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler £74.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 750W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £71.99
1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-21300C11 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit (TXD38G2666HC11CDC01) £65.99
2 x Aerocool DS Edition Fan - Red - 120mm £12.49 (£24.98)
Total : £1,267.06 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Probably go for a different case like the Corsair 540.
This build is from a thread below yours and specified a parvum case.

Drop the sound card as you don't need one & add a Seagate 3/3TB HDD in.

My monitor is a HP S2331a, 23 -inch 1920 x 1080.

I play as many games as anyone else really, apart from the CoD's and BF's. I usually play the Skyrims, X-games, Borderlands, Dishonored, Thief, Rage, Civilizations, Tomb Raider. Also going to buy the next Elite when it hits. I want to be able to play the latest, and what's coming out at, well, max if possible.

I have 2k to spend yeah, but if I can save, all the better. It was just a maximum amount I have saved and was prepared to spend. I'm not clued up on the best components, and I don't really keep up to date with them all like some people can. I mean I have rough ideas, but that's why I registered to ask for advice.

Anyway, I agree about the case, it wasn't available on the configurator.
