Refit Heatsink on new MBoard

I had to replace my motherboard recently so had to remove the Socket 775 backplate of my Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme which uses a sticky pad around the centre point to hold it in place. Typically this pad did not come off cleanly so none of it is reuasable. Does anyone have any recomendations on what I can use instead of this pad (I assume it isn't a good idea for the metal of the bracket to touch the motherboard)?

do you still have the metal bracket? i.e. did you cut it off? i did this. use somepipe joiner insulaton (3mm) its sticky as hell one side.

i have laods spare if you get stuck. its basically neoprene like stuff.
