Refitting watercooling, is this algae a problem?

Hey Saul - I've had exact same problem with mine recently.

So it is definitely flux then? Not plasticiser?

I only ask because both me and my best mate have had the same issues with our rigs (although prior to switching to Mayhems Ultra Pure H20 we were using the premixed TFC Coolant which COULD have been the culprit initially).

I've been flushing my rads today/yesterday - is a mixture of distilled water and white malt vinegar ok for this task? Or is the vinegar a step too far?

hughythomas, I'm very sure there are no plasticiser in it, it's completely clear. It's just a non conductive coolant.

I'm going to flush out my rad/pump/CPU block with a lot of distilled water tomorrow. Also my OCUK order should be arriving tomorrow too :)

Afraid not. Mind linking me to it? Would be interesting to compare. Either way the reservoir's basking in a little pool of bleach at the moment, I'm going to see if that gets rid of it.

Also just cleaned the pump, too. Just the radiator that's left now... that's my plan for tomorrow evening.

Thanks!

Comparing your shots to what I've seen in my cooling system, yours seems a lot thicker and far more sticky/gooey in consistency. Whereas the crap in mine is like lots of little speckles all bunched up together, and quite abrasive to remove (needs a bit of rubbing to get off).

It's actually a bit of relief knowing its not plasticiser though! Like I said my coolant is a clear, non UV liquid :) glad I chose a more pure option now, and I'll set a reminder to flush my system in 12 months again! (is that too far away?)
