Hopefully my new parts will come today and I plan on using my old hard drive and reformat it first. I'm just wondering should I wait until its in the new PC and reformat it or reformat on my old one and just not install the drivers? I will be getting a new motherboard, processor, memory and graphics card.

Use the format/partition facility that is built into the Windows XP/Vista setup routine.

Yeah I know how to do it I'm just wondering can I save time and do it before my new parts arrive and just not install the drivers of the old parts?

If you want to use your old Hard Drive as your O/S drive then just put it in your new system and off you go. Dosent really matter if you format it in your old pc or new it wont make a difference.

Though if you want to use it as a storage drive, you will have to wait till its in your new system and you are able to boot into windows then format it wintin windows.

Thanks for your help, I'll think I will reformat on my old system to get rid of all the crap that has built up and give it a new PC feel when my new parts arrive :)
