Okay so i bought a Sony Vaio BX laptop in oct 06, it came with XP Pro SP2. I have since reformatted with my own disc (XP PRO SP2), however when i input the code on the bottom of my laptop (the Windows XP code), it says invalid, and so i have to use my other code  . Does anyone know why i cannot use the code on the bottom of the laptop as i want to get IE7.

Thanks

That code is locked to a specific OEM version of WinXP. If you've installed it with your own disc, why not use that license key?

Did your Laptop not come with any installation discs!
You can dowload ie7 from the Microsoft website (or am I getting the wrong end of the stick :p )

Nope it did not :( and you have to verify that your XP is genuine

You may need to phone Sony and get them to send you a windows disc, or do you have friend who can lend you OEM windows.

In that case you either need to contact Sony to obtain the discs (will probably cost you) or buy a LEGAL version of XP or Vista or whatever.

Of course there is alwaysa way around these kind of situations but i'm not going to discuss that here.
