Non reference cards come with boosts, better coolers etc. the reference gtx 670 like the ocuk card for £299.99 (on iPhone so no link sorry) has a short PCB do it tends to run a bit hotter and louder than the non reference cards. Have a read through the gtx 670 threads, my personal non reference choice would be the gigabyte windforce, seems to get great reviews for performance, cooling and noise.
If your not sure what is a reference card or not, read through the specs, any mention of full length pcbs, custom cooling or over clocking and your looking at a non reference card

this isn't entirely true, the msi OC card comes with a higher base clock but it is still a short pcb with reference cooler
all of the blower cards are reference, the EVGA is a reference PCB but with a slightly bigger heatsink and different fan that seems to be marginally quieter

Blows the air out of the back of the case, A lot of the customs dump the heat into the case.
I didn't say they all come with full 680 Pcbs it was just a suggestion for OP to identify a non reference card.
