Refresh on wide screen

What kind of refresh rate can you get on a widescreen LCD? Ive only seen specs with 60Hz (At prices below £160) Can you get better rates at the max res?
 
60Hz is always the recommended refresh rate for a TFT. Some will support 75hz as a maximum, but not always over DVI.

Does a wide screen monitor give a 'normal' picture. i.e. When playing games is the picture streached at all? Do you have to have special wide screen games?

Most newer games have Widescreen resolutions ready to pick, so its as easy as going into the options

Some older games you can simply change the .ini or .cfg file to change the resolution manually

And Widescreen gaming is awesome, you'll never want to use a 4:3 monitor again
 
Hmmm - very informative thread - was just asking the questions that this answers in another thread - everyone seems to give WS a go over 4:3
