refresh rate issues since

I switched to a amd 280x from a nvidia, I was having driver issues first, now ive installed the drivers again for the graphics card and screen,
its now letting me go past 1600x1200 but the screen flickers a lot on 1920x1080, soon as i go to 1600x900 its fine again.

I think its the refresh rate, I think it need to be 60hrz but its only allowing 30hrz

Did you remove all traces of nvidia drivers from your system? DDU or Driver Cleaner, run in safe mode - then do same for all current AMD drivers, then restart normally and then install latest WHQL AMD drivers.

for anyone else having the same issues,

the problem was down to the drivers, I Have now downloaded drivers direct from amd instead of msi and its working fine, I should have known it would be something this simple.
